Where did the idea of Women in Banking & Finance come from?

WIBF is a not-for-profit organisation which aims primarily to provide women working in the Financial Services sector with a networking platform.

What is WIBF in Ireland?

The idea for an Irish chapter of Women in Banking & Finance (WIBF) came from a group of women working in Financial Services in Dublin who had prior experience of WIBF in London and believe in the benefits of establishing a similar group in Ireland.

The Committee of WIBF Ireland now includes representatives from Irish and foreign financial institutions, as well as legal and accountancy firms based in Ireland.

Does my company need to be a sponser before I can become a member of WIBF?

No - while corporate sponsorship is available for interested firms, membership is on a personal basis and is down to the individual concerned.

What is the membership fee and what can I expect for this?

Membership fee for 2008 is €100. As a member, you will receive the WIBF magazine bi-monthly and access to a wide range of events during the year. Click here for more information on our Events.

What type of events can I expect and what size are the events?

WIBF aim to provide networking and personal development opportunities for women in the financial services industry. Our Events programme is focussed on personal and professional development, social networking amd having fun!!

What does my membership fee go towards?

The membership fee covers general administration, costs associated with the events, the publication of the magazine and the WIBF website.

Will I have to pay anything over and above the membership fee to attend the events?

Usually, there is no charge to members and we encourage people to attend as many events as possible during the year. However, occasionally a small charge may apply, to cover costs associated with running a particular event.

Can members of WIBF Ireland attend events being run in Edinburgh or London?

Yes. All events in Edinburgh and London are advertised in the bi-monthly WIBF magazine and also on the WIBF UK website, members of WIBF Ireland are welcome to attend.

Is WIBF Ireland only for women and must I be a member to attend events?

Membership is primarily for women, however all events are open to both members and guests. A nominal charge (usually €20) applies for guest attendance.
